7th Annual Boston Marathon Route MTB Bike Ride
This is the 7th year for this event.  Monday April 17th, 9:00 AM meeting time in Waltham.  Light rain or snow does not cancel this ride.

The Marathon Day ride is a 30 mile round trip ride.  An intermediate MOUNTAIN BIKE ride from Waltham, into Newton to climb the real Heartbreak Hill, to Boston and back to Waltham via the Charles River Bike path.

This is a follow the leader style Mountain Bike ride.  Mix of street riding, and easy singletracks.  Includes 12 miles of the actual Marathon Route with blocked off streets and lots of crowds.

This is not a fast pace ride, but you must have the confident ability to ride 30 miles at a group pace of 12 – 14 MPH.  This early in the season, many of us will not be in the best riding condition.  We will wait for all, with frequent stops.  Hybrid bikes are not recommended, but Helmets are.  Plan 4 hours total for this ride including a 1 hour stop at the Cosmic Café.  Free food + athletic (swag) at the Prudential Center, once we arrive in Boston.

Please email Michael Salerno () to receive further details and meeting location.  Ride is free, no club affiliation required.  Typically 10 – 16 folks of all ages.  Please no children under 18.

7th Annual Marathon Ride Recap...
Michael's recap... In all, we started the 7th Anual Boston Marathon Mountain Bike ride with 18 folks, but only returned with 12.  I fear some are stuck in the Charles River Mud.  It has been known that once a bike gets in the mud, the tires instantly desolve, and the bones are never found.  The balance of the folks had a great ride, as always.  The weather was great, a little bit cool that day, but not enough to stop a group of hearty mountain bikers.  The Beer was flowing well at the Cosmic Cafe.  Many say they will be back next year, but do not want to be counted amoung the missing... (lol)
